2021 HILLSIDE PRIMITIVO
TASTING NOTES
Our 2021 Hillside Primitivo shows off its elegant ruby color, aromas of black cherry, white spice. Opening on the palate are earthy notes of wet clay and forest floor. Dark, ripe bing cherry and plum expressions complement the balanced tannic profile of this age-worthy wine.
PRODUCTION NOTES
These grapes come from the top of the hillside in our vineyard, our favorite location in the block. The grapes were grown on our estate Coble Ranch Vineyard, located in the Winters HIghlands AVA. We use the heritage Primitivo Clone in our Zinfandel block, which produces a lighter, more refined fruit profile than its counterparts. After the grapes were harvested and sorted they were fermented in small lots, then pressed in our traditional basket press. Once pressed, the wine was aged for 18 months in one and twice used French Oak barrels.
